Niki's expertise and commitment is evident and translates into understanding the individual needs of her clients. I am 72 years old and decided that after a fairly energetic and outdoor lifestyle I had to take responsibility for my body now that I was slowing down. I have arthritis in my fingers, shoulders and knees and was finding it too easy adopt a slightly stooped gait while walking.

    I had never taken part in group exercise before but Niki was very welcoming and made me feel like an individual not one of a crowd. She takes account of any physical problems you may have and tailors moves to your ability. Pilates ensures that I move and stretch my whole body, not just the parts that move in everyday life.

  • “I'll be 38 this year, and I've started to make that old man groaning sound when getting up off the sofa, and I've decided I'm not ready to become my dad just yet. I spend my days sitting at a desk and do powerlifting after work, which goes some way to reverse the detrimental effect of sitting all day. But I've learned that strength is a skill and it is specific. Yes, I can bench press 120kg, but how well does that translate to the real world, to my posture, core strength, balance, etc.? Pilates bridges the gap.

  • These classes are fantastic! I had tried Pilates classes in the past and had found them quite dull and not very helpful... but Niki's small group approach means she can make sure everyone is doing the exercises properly which means I get benefit from every exercise in every class, and I can actually feel my body working and getting stronger week by week.

    The small groups also means Niki knows her clients and she will encourage where needed but also adapt exercises to make sure it is right for the individual and no-one is doing a movement they shouldn't. I've been going for about 18 months, but within the first 6 I found myself doing moves that I had thought impossible. I have now built Pilates movements into every day, I start and end the day with movement and am more aware of how my body moves through the day. I've learnt that Pilates done properly is a world away from big group classes and highly recommend these classes.

  • “Niki’s Pilates and Mindfulness retreat at Champneys was absolutely fantastic. Niki was there waiting to welcome me, and made me feel at ease when she talked me through the day. I enjoyed the light breakfast and then later Niki’s Pilates and Mindfulness session. It was just what I needed, I suffer with severe anxiety, but during the session I was relaxed and Niki’s teaching was so soothing and easy to follow. Each Pilates exercise had different levels to suit everyone’s ability. Towards the end of the session I was able to just be present in the moment and feel calm and mindful. I loved the 3-course lunch, it was super healthy! In the afternoon I explored the beautiful grounds and had an Elemis massage and a facial which left me feeling amazing too.
